When Identity Refuses to Change, Suffering Begins
We suffer not because life is unfair, but because our ego identity resists the changes our Higher Self has already planned for us.
Your pain is not a punishment.
It is often a signal that you are holding on to an identity that has expired.
I was channeling messages from my spirit guides recently, and they shared this truth with a very simple example.
When you wear woollen clothes in winter, they keep you warm.
Do you wear the same clothes in the summer?
No. Because what once protected you will now make you uncomfortable.
In the same way, the identities you cling to, “I am this”, “I am that”, are not your truth. They are seasonal. They are roles. They are useful only for a phase.
If you refuse to remove woolens in summer, it becomes suffering.
Not because wool is bad, but because the season has changed.
Similarly, when the divine plan of your Higher Self moves from one phase to another, your identity must change too. Suffering begins when attachment remains stronger than trust.
Your soul is always evolving.
Your ego wants familiarity.
That conflict is where pain is born.
You ask.
It really is that simple.
Here is a practice you can try. Do it gently. Do it without expectation.
You are not losing yourself when an identity falls away.
You are meeting yourself again, without the costume.
Trust the season you are in.
Trust that your Higher Self knows when it is time to change clothes.
Try this practice.
And when you do, notice what starts shifting within you. ❤️
